Surfing on the Black Sea

Shots from the Globe Open surf contest at Sinemorets, on the Black Sea.

I also competed in the contest but didn't surf as good as some of these fellows.

This guy is passing the time using a skim board.

This is Doichen Doichenov, the contest manager. He was extremely helpful in getting me around. He is also the owner of BAS in Sofia.

Here is the contest crowd seen from a distance. Almost the entire Bulgarian surfing community was there.

Sunset over the fishing village of Ahtopol.

These shots are taken back in Ahtopol. The lighthouse is a key landmark, and so is the left reef break that Doichen is riding when the swell is big enough.
